Internet speed is tested while initially preparing a school to join Striv but if your school's internet speed has changed or if your school is repeatedly having issues related to internet speed here are some options.
Increasing your upload speed
- If at all possible use a hard-wired connection, this will be more reliable and usually faster
- Limit the number of people connected to the network
- Check with a network administrator about creating a special network
If you have to use wireless, at least use a private network and ask a network administrator to enable QoS for best results
Choosing a resolution
Note that your computer must also be able to handle the resolution you choose here. CPU power is the limiting factor for most schools.
Below is a table of recommended internet upload speeds for corresponding resolutions (rows) and frames per second (columns).
|30 FPS||60 FPS|
|480p||3 Mbps||6 Mbps|
|720p||10 Mbps||15 Mbps|
Compare the recommended internet upload speeds with the results of your own upload speed which you can test at striv.speedtestcustom.com. Note that testing before an event may poorly represent your speed during the event due to the increased number of people.
