Introduction
We recommend using Safari, Google Chrome, or Firefox with the Striv Scoreboard App.
Adding a scoreboard to Wirecast can be broken down into five simple steps.
- Opening the scoreboard app
- Configuring the scoreboard
- Resize the web browser
- Adding the scoreboard into Wirecast
- Adjusting the scoreboard in Wirecast
- Other Resources
Open the Scoreboard App
The first step is to open the scoreboard app from the Striv Dashboard. This can be found by going to striv.tv/upload/ and clicking on your school then entering your schools password. Once logged into the Striv Dashboard, click on 'Scoreboard' on the left navigation bar then click the button that says 'Open Scoreboard App' or click the scoreboard icon in the upper right corner.
Configuring the Scoreboard
After clicking the 'Open Scoreboard App' a new tab should open looking similar to the image below. If not check your browser's security settings or try a different web browser.
Events
The simplest way to configure the scoreboard is to input events beforehand using the Striv Dashboard and select the event using the dropdown at the top of the Scoreboard Settings.
Teams
The 'Home Team' will automatically show your school and as you type the away team, suggestions will show up. It is important to select from the list of suggestions so that the school's logo can be added to the scoreboard.
Design
There are three styles of scoreboard that we offer, you can select your favorite from the design dropdown.
Sport
The scoreboard will change depending on what sport is selected. For instance the volleyball setting will replace the game clock with a set counter and the Soft/Baseball setting will add information showing balls, strikes, and loaded bases. Additionally the keyboard shortcuts will change by sport.
Once all the settings are done click Start Your Event.
Resize the Web Browser
In order to fit both Wirecast and the scoreboard on your screen at the same time as well as to help with adjusting later, we recommend having the scoreboard in its own web browser window and to make the browser window just big enough to fit the whole scoreboard and surrounding controls, see image below.
Adding Scoreboard to Wirecast
To show how to add the scoreboard to Wirecast we will add it to an existing shot. It will be added to Wirecast as a screen capture. First select the shot you want to add the scoreboard to. Next open the Shot Editor Panel to the Shot Layers tab (the first one, shown below).
Click the plus button
The Add Layer dialog will open. In the dialog box select 'Screen Capture' and then 'Screen Capture'. Then click add in the bottom right corner of the dialog box.
Next we will configure the screen capture by selecting the layer in the Shot Layers tab of the Shot Editor Panel then going to the Additional Properties Tab shown below.
Pictured above are the recommended settings. First ensure the 'Capture Type' is set to 'Window' and disable 'Show Curser'. Next click 'Configure...' and a dialog box will appear. Select your web browser then select the window that has scoreboard.
Adjusting the Scoreboard in Wirecast
To adjust the scoreboard we need to use the Layer Properties and Chroma Key Properties tabs in the Shot Editor Panel.
Layer Properties
Use the Layer Properties tab to crop down the screen capture until all that is left is the scoreboard and the surrounding green box (pictured below). Next use the 'Scale' slider to adjust the size.
Chroma Key Properties
You should now have the scoreboard in Wirecast with a green box around it but to get rid of the green box we use the Chroma Key Properties. First select both the 'Use Chroma Key' and 'Pick key color with mouse' check boxes. Next simply click on the green color and it should disappear. If it didn't you can manually type the color, we recommend #008800.
